About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing, next-generation cloud security platform that uses runtime context to identify and prioritise the risks that matter most. Their eBPF-powered sensors deliver agentless cloud posture discovery, real-time threat protection and integrated API security across every major cloud provider. With strong backing and a rapidly expanding Belfast engineering hub, they offer a high-impact environment for engineers who enjoy distributed systems and security challenges.
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on quality engineering role spanning several engineering teams in Belfast. You will write test code every week, build and own the frameworks the teams rely on, and set the standard for how engineers test their own work. The teams build distributed scanning systems across AWS, GCP, Azure and Oracle Cloud, backed by Kubernetes, Docker, Neo4j, ElasticSearch, Redis, TimescaleDB and RabbitMQ. You will work closely with Backend, Frontend, DevOps, Product and Customer Success. The role suits someone who leads through influence and enjoys raising the testing capability of everyone around them.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain fast, reliable test frameworks and tooling for services, APIs and the UI
- Define test strategies with each team, pushing most coverage below the UI across unit, integration, contract and end-to-end levels
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines as quality gates
- Treat flaky and slow tests as defects and drive them out of the pipeline
- Write the testing standards, examples and documentation teams adopt as their default
- Coach engineers in testing practice through pairing, code review, workshops and written guides
- Review test and production code with a testing lens, giving clear and constructive feedback
- Build test data sets and cloud test environments that verify the accuracy of security findings
- Contribute to performance, load and reliability testing against measurable quality targets
- Measure and report on escaped defects, coverage and pipeline stability to guide investment
What You'll Need
Essential:
- 5+ years in software testing, quality engineering or software development in test
- 2+ years leading test strategy for a team or product area
- 2+ years of browser end-to-end testing with tools such as Playwright or Cypress

- CI/CD experience and running tests in containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with AWS, GCP or Azure, microservices and data-intensive systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Residence in Northern Ireland
Desirable / Nice to Have:
- Experience standing up a test automation framework from scratch and scaling it with the product
