Job Title: Data Acquisition Manager

Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland

Duration: Full-time

Working on behalf of a dynamic New York start-up to establish their presence in Northern Ireland. As the Data Acquisition Manager, you'll play a crucial role in acquiring and managing data in various formats, contributing to the growth and success of our client's business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the New York-based team to develop and implement data acquisition strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Utilize your strong academic background and experience to acquire and manage data in all formats, including flat files, Excel, SQL databases, and ETL processes.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data quality and integrity throughout the acquisition process.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to automate data ingestion and processing tasks, optimizing efficiency and scalability.
  • Identify and evaluate new data sources and technologies to enhance data acquisition capabilities and drive innovation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate acquired data into existing systems and processes, ensuring seamless operation and accessibility.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in data acquisition and management, continuously enhancing your skills and knowledge.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Proven experience working with data in various formats, including flat files, Excel, SQL databases, and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition techniques and tools, such as data scraping, APIs, and data extraction software.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
  • Passion for learning and staying abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data acquisition and management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements.
