The Role:
As a Data Scientist, you will develop advanced data models and NLP applications that directly contribute to enhancing education-focused technology solutions. This new role offers the chance to lead the creation of innovative data solutions while working alongside a skilled team delivering impactful solutions to educational institutions. Your blend of technical expertise in data analytics, NLP, and machine learning, along with a strategic approach to presenting solutions, will help clients achieve their educational goals through data-driven insights. A strong proficiency in NLP, particularly in techniques like classifiers, transfer learning, and outcome-based modeling, is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay current with NLP tools and industry-standard modelling techniques, including both open-source and vendor-specific solutions.
- Align client needs with functional delivery, translating complex requirements into educational insights.
- Apply advanced statistical analysis, machine learning methods, and NLP techniques to develop data-driven tools and applications for the educational sector.
- Transform text data into actionable insights using NLP techniques for classification algorithms.
- Select and apply annotated datasets and supervised learning techniques to educational challenges.
- Implement efficient text representation techniques to transform language data into meaningful features.
- Develop prototypes leveraging NLP and Explainable AI (XAI) for educational applications.
- Extend machine learning libraries and frameworks to support NLP tasks tailored to education.
- Demonstrate expertise in NLP for semantic extraction, data structures, and model building.
- Present analytical findings and innovative solutions to client educational teams.
- Build predictive and forecasting models to enhance decision-making in the education sector.
Qualifications/Experience
Essential Criteria:
- Degree in mathematics, computer science, or related field.
- Expertise in Python, R, and relevant coding languages.
- Strong analytics skills with a focus on educational data.
- Ability to work and travel across the UK and EU, with appropriate legal entitlement.
Desirable Criteria:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience in NLP, machine learning, and data analytics, particularly in education or related sectors.
- Industry knowledge and understanding of educational processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
