Database Engineer – Hybrid Role (Exclusive to Ocho)

The Role

Join the Platform team as a Data Engineer, where you’ll play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimising the data architecture that powers the platform. You'll help manage data ingestion from on-premises devices and enhance the platform's multi-tenancy capabilities in the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy cloud-based database solutions using AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure data consistency and seamless integration of database services.
  • Optimise data models and structures for efficient storage and access, following best practices.
  • Assist in implementing robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Contribute to performance tuning and identify areas for improvement.
  • Enforce database security measures, including encryption and access controls.
  • Translate project requirements into scalable database designs in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain best practices in database management, including version control and documentation.
  • Monitor database performance using observability tools and resolve issues proactively.
  • Stay updated on emerging database technologies and contribute to tech stack discussions.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud-based database engineering.
  • Proven expertise in managing databases on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, with proficiency in both SQL and NoSQL technologies.
  • Experience in performance tuning, query optimisation, and indexing.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices, including encryption and data protection.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical requirements into effective solutions.
  • Commitment to maintaining high availability and reliability in database systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
