Lead Mobile Developer
NI based, Remote First |  Permanent | Up to £85,000 + Benefits

Ocho are hiring a Lead Mobile Developer to drive the design, development and delivery of a high-performance mobile application used by thousands of active users. You’ll take full ownership of a React Native codebase in a fast-paced product-led environment, collaborating with Product, Design, and Backend teams to ship meaningful features with real impact.

 What You’ll Do

  • Own and lead the architecture, design and development of a large-scale React Native mobile app

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver end-to-end features across iOS and Android

  • Champion performance, maintainability and best practices across the mobile stack

  • Mentor and guide fellow engineers, conducting code reviews and sharing deep technical insight

  • Partner closely with Product and Design to translate complex requirements into elegant mobile experiences

  • Introduce innovation and challenge the norm—your voice will help shape the future of the product

Tech You’ll Work With

  • React Native (core)

  • TypeScript

  • Redux / Zustand / React Query

  • Native Modules (Swift, Kotlin, Objective-C/Java)

  • RESTful APIs & GraphQL

  • CI/CD tooling (Fastlane, Bitrise, GitHub Actions)

  • Unit, E2E and UI Testing (Jest, Detox, etc.)

 What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of professional experience, with deep hands-on expertise in React Native

  • Experience leading development on consumer-grade mobile apps with large user bases

  • Excellent understanding of mobile architecture, state management and native performance optimisations

  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineers, while staying hands-on with code

  • Strong UX instincts, with the ability to collaborate with Product and Design teams

  • Passion for clean, scalable code and driving engineering excellence
