The Client
Our Exclusive client is an innovative sports technology company leveraging Generative AI to revolutionise digital experiences in the sports and entertainment industry. Their mission is to build cutting-edge, immersive solutions using the latest advancements in AI and cloud technologies.
As they scale their product and team, they are seeking a skilled Backend Developer with strong Node.js and Azure experience to contribute to the architecture, scalability, and performance of their platform.
Role Overview
As a Backend Developer, you will work closely with Product Leads, the Site Lead, the CTO, and engineering peers to design and develop scalable backend services. You will play a key role in ensuring high performance, security, and reliability across the platform while working in a modern Azure-based environment that prioritises managed services over self-hosted solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js.
- Architect scalable APIs to support front-end applications built with Next.js.
- Deploy and manage services in Azure, leveraging Azure Container Apps and managed cloud solutions.
- Optimise system performance by implementing caching strategies and database optimisations.
- Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, contributing to a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Ensure security, performance, and reliability of backend systems in a high-traffic environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in backend development, with expertise in Node.js.
- Experience working with Azure Cloud Services, particularly Container Apps and managed services.
- Strong understanding of API development, microservices, and serverless architectures.
- Experience with Next.js (or similar front-end frameworks) is beneficial.
- Proficiency in database design and optimisation (SQL or NoSQL).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (IaC) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in fast-paced agile environments.
