Software Developer in Test (SDET) – Fully Remote

Company Overview:
Our client is an innovative fintech scale-up transforming digital payment infrastructure. With significant growth and investment behind them, they are now building a new Test Automation function to sit at the heart of their engineering and product capability. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on creating strategy as well as hands-on delivery.

Role Overview:
This is a unique opportunity to help establish and lead a brand-new Test Automation function from the ground up. You will be responsible for shaping the testing strategy, building frameworks, and embedding automation across a fast-paced software engineering team. Working closely with product, architecture, and DevOps, you’ll create scalable and reliable solutions that support continuous delivery and high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and evolve a robust test automation strategy and framework across the SDLC
  • Own the delivery of automated solutions for UI, API, database, performance and integration testing
  • Lead test planning, strategy and tooling adoption across multiple product lines
  • Champion continuous testing, shift-left approaches and modern test engineering practices
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to provide regular insight on coverage, velocity and quality

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 4–6 years' experience in an SDET or equivalent QA automation engineering role
  • Proven experience leading or building test automation capabilities within a fast-paced engineering team
  • Strong programming background in C#, Java, JavaScript or Python
  • Experience with modern automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, REST Assured, Mocha, Cucumber)
  • Hands-on experience automating API, UI, backend and non-functional test scenarios
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders across engineering and product
