Our client is a well-established infrastructure and civil engineering contractor operating across Northern Ireland. They hold a strong, secured pipeline of work and have built a reputation for technical excellence and safety-first delivery. This is a business investing significantly in its commercial team as it continues to scale.

 

The Role

This is an opportunity for an intermediate Quantity Surveyor to take real ownership of commercial packages within a growing infrastructure contractor. You'll work closely with site and project teams, managing cost plans, valuations and subcontractor accounts from measurement through to final account. Reporting to a Senior QS/Commercial Manager, you'll have genuine autonomy on your own packages while being supported by an experienced commercial function. This role suits someone ready for more ownership and a clear route toward senior commercial positions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets and cash flow forecasts for allocated packages
  • Measure and value works on-site, preparing interim valuations and payment applications
  • Manage procurement and commercial administration of subcontractors and suppliers
  • Prepare, submit and negotiate variations and change orders
  • Lead the preparation and agreement of final accounts
  • Monitor costs against budget, flagging commercial risk early
  • Support tender and estimating activity for future bids
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and contribute to monthly CVR reporting
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, main contractors and consultants

 

What You'll Need

Essential

  • Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
  • 2–5 years' post-qualification QS experience within civil engineering or infrastructure
  • Strong working knowledge of measurement, valuations and subcontractor procurement
  • Experience working under NEC or similar standard forms of contract
  • Working towards or holding MRICS/MCIOB chartership
