About the Company
This growing technology business is focused on building high-quality software solutions for its clients. The engineering team works in a fast-paced environment where developers are trusted to make sound, reasoned decisions and to engage directly with clients on technical design.
The Role
As a Developer, you will report to the Head of Engineering and work as part of a close-knit engineering team. You will be a key point of contact for clients, agreeing technical designs and advising on the effort and technical implications of user stories and user journeys. The role suits someone who takes ownership, makes reasoned decisions under pace, and wants to keep learning while mentoring those around them.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop high-quality software solutions as part of a collaborative engineering team
• Work closely with clients to agree technical designs across projects
• Advise clients and managers on estimated effort and technical implications of user stories and user journeys
• Make sound, reasoned technical decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Mentor and share knowledge with colleagues on the team
• Learn and apply new technologies and approaches as they emerge
• Report on progress and technical decisions to the Head of Engineering
• Operate effectively with minimal supervision, taking onus where needed
What You'll Need
Essential:
• 3-5 years of Java experience
• 2+ years of practical experience in Spring Boot
• Experience with Microservices Architecture
• Experience in three or more of: TDD, automated acceptance testing/BDD/Cucumber, performance and scalability testing (e.g. JMeter), penetration testing knowledge/OWASP, Kubernetes/container orchestration
• Experience designing, creating and calling HTTP APIs
• Experience with SQL databases (e.g. Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB)
• Experience with three or more AWS services: EC2, RDS, S3, Route 53, Elasticsearch, EKS, CloudWatch, CloudFront
• A strong team player who works well with minimal supervision
Desirable / Nice to Have:
• CI/CD pipeline setup and configuration
• Document-based/NoSQL databases, the ELK stack, or Apache Kafka
• Spring Security and OAuth2, React, React Native, Keycloak, Camunda, OpenAPI/Swagger, or Nginx setup and configuration
