Job description.

AI Engineering Manager | Healthcare AI | UK Wide

At-a-Glance

•        Senior technical leadership role in one of the UK's leading AI and data consultancies

•        Production ML, MLOps, GenAI and agentic AI on Azure and AWS

•        UK wide, with regular client-site travel (expenses covered)

•        Excellent salary and package

•        Lead AI delivery in Healthcare, one of the business's fastest-growing areas

About the Company

Our client is one of the UK's leading AI and data businesses, with over a decade of delivering production-grade AI across government, healthcare, defence and commercial sectors. A trusted partner of Microsoft and AWS, it builds AI solutions that run at citizen scale and is a recognised pioneer in responsible and secure AI. It is known for investing heavily in its people, with many staff building long careers from graduate through to principal level.

The Role

You'll join the Healthcare team as the senior technical lead on client engagements, owning the whole solution rather than just the AI components. Working alongside software and platform engineers, data scientists and senior client stakeholders, you'll take AI solutions from concept into production at scale. This is a consulting role built on credible delivery... you'll help shape new opportunities and bids, but you won't be a salesperson. It suits an engineer who has deep roots in traditional machine learning and MLOps, combined with hands-on GenAI and agentic AI experience.

Key Responsibilities

•        Lead the design, deployment and serving of AI solutions in production at scale

•        Own technical direction across the full solution, not just the AI components

•        Lead multi-disciplinary teams of AI, software and platform engineers

•        Agree architectural principles and strategic direction with senior client stakeholders

•        Drive the adoption of modern AI frameworks, AIOps practices and cloud-native architecture

•        Embed robust model evaluation, monitoring and drift detection

•        Champion responsible AI, model interpretability and ethical delivery

•        Shape new opportunities, bids and tenders alongside delivery leadership

•        Coach and develop engineers and help set standards across the wider community

What You'll Need

Essential:

•        Proven experience deploying and serving ML models in production at significant scale

•        Several years of traditional ML experience (classic ML, computer vision, reinforcement learning or MLOps), including work that predates GenAI

•        Hands-on GenAI experience: prompt engineering, RAG, agentic AI and model evaluation using metrics such as precision, recall, NDCG and drift detection

•        Technical leadership of multi-disciplinary teams delivering AI into production

•        Strong Python with software engineering best practice (CI/CD, testing, code reviews)

•        Solutions at scale on Azure and/or AWS, with Docker and Kubernetes

•        Data engineering for AI, including large-scale, unstructured and multimodal data

•        Confidence leading client projects and managing C-level stakeholders

•        Experience managing, coaching and developing engineers

•        A 2.1 degree or above in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Statistics or a similar quantitative field

•        Eligible for SC clearance (UK national with five years' UK residency) and comfortable with regular client-site travel

Desirable:

•        Healthcare or public sector delivery experience, ideally within a consultancy

•        Existing SC clearance

•        LLM fine-tuning or distillation, vector databases and knowledge graphs, or AI compliance standards such as ISO42001

Why Apply?

•        Excellent salary and package

•        Lead AI delivery in Healthcare, building solutions used at citizen scale

•        Real breadth of work across traditional ML, MLOps, GenAI and agentic AI

•        Dedicated talent development support and real investment in training and upskilling

•        UK wide working, with all client travel expenses covered

•        Join a business known for growing its people and long-term careers

•        A two-stage interview process with no technical test
