The Role
This is a rare chance to shape the engineering heart of a hypergrowth company as it builds out its Belfast presence. You will design and own the high-throughput backend services that turn vast streams of real-time runtime data from eBPF sensors into clear, prioritised risk for some of the most demanding cloud environments in the world. You will work shoulder to shoulder with Research, Security and Platform teams operating at the very edge of cloud and AI security, with the autonomy to make big architectural calls and see them land in production fast. If you want your code to stop real attacks, this is where you belong.
Key Responsibilities
• Architect and build distributed backend services in Go that process real-time runtime data at scale
• Lead technical design for new platform capabilities across workload, API and identity security
• Own services end to end, from design through deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement
• Drive performance, reliability and cost efficiency across Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure
• Partner with Security Research to turn emerging attack techniques into shipped detections
• Shape how AI and machine learning power detection and risk prioritisation across the platform
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar on code quality, testing and review
• Help define the engineering culture of a fast-growing Belfast team
What You'll Need
Essential:
• 3-6+ years' commercial backend software engineering experience
• Strong production experience in Go, or deep expertise in another backend language such as Java, Python, Rust or C++ with a real appetite to work in Go
• Proven track record designing and scaling distributed, high-throughput systems
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP or Azure)
• Solid Linux fundamentals
• Based in Northern Ireland with existing right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available)
Desirable / Nice to Have:
• Experience with eBPF, Linux kernel internals or low-level networking
• Background building cybersecurity, observability or cloud infrastructure products
• Experience with streaming or large-scale data platforms such as Kafka or ClickHouse
