Senior Business Analyst – MiFID Specialist
Location: Belfast (Hybrid 2 days a week in office)
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum + bonus

As part of their continued growth and dedication to regulatory compliance, they are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst with expertise in MiFID II to join their team.
Job Overview:
As a Business Analyst specialising in MiFID II regulations, you will be responsible for analysing business requirements, designing and implementing solutions to ensure compliance, and supporting ongoing business and regulatory change initiatives. You will collaborate closely with internal teams across compliance, IT, and trading desks, as well as external stakeholders, to facilitate regulatory adherence and drive operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance (MiFID II):
Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for MiFID II, translating regulatory requirements into clear business requirements.
Work with compliance, legal, and operations teams to ensure regulatory changes are integrated into business processes and technology solutions.
Analyse the impact of MiFID II requirements on Our Client’s trading platforms and business units.
Business Analysis & Documentation:
Gather, analyse, and document business requirements, collaborating closely with business users, project managers, and IT teams.
Develop detailed functional and non-functional specifications for projects related to MiFID II and other relevant regulations.
Produce process models, gap analyses, and data flow diagrams to support system and process improvements.
Project Management Support:
Assist project managers in delivering regulatory projects on time and within scope.
Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Work with internal stakeholders, including trading desks, risk management, operations, and IT, to drive successful project outcomes.
Organise workshops, meetings, and presentations to gather feedback and communicate project updates.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Assist in the design and delivery of reporting solutions to meet MiFID II transaction and transparency reporting obligations.
Ensure data quality and accuracy by collaborating with technical teams to optimise data handling and regulatory reporting processes.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
Support system testing efforts, including UAT (User Acceptance Testing), ensuring solutions meet business and regulatory requirements.
Validate and verify the effectiveness of solutions through detailed testing plans and case development.
Required Skills & Experience:
MiFID II Expertise:
Strong understanding of MiFID II regulatory requirements, particularly related to trade reporting, transparency, and investor protection.
Business Analysis Skills:
Proven experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, with a focus on regulatory change.
Ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear, actionable business requirements.
Excellent documentation skills, including experience in creating business requirement documents (BRDs) and functional specifications.
Stakeholder Management:
Demonstrated ability to manage and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Experience in facilitating workshops and gathering requirements from cross-functional teams.
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with trading platforms, transaction reporting systems, and financial data flows.
Basic knowledge of SQL or other data querying tools is advantageous.
Project Management Support:
Experience working within Agile or Waterfall project management frameworks.
Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and ensure timely delivery of key milestones.
Desirable Skills:
Previous experience working in a financial institution, broker-dealer, or trading firm.
Experience with other financial regulations, such as EMIR, MAR, or Dodd-Frank.
Knowledge of post-trade operations and reporting processes.
