Principal TypeScript Engineer

One of Ocho's longest standing and most innovative clients, a global technology company building large scale platforms used across construction, logistics and asset management. Their UK engineering team is expanding, and they're searching for a Principal TypeScript Engineer to help drive technical excellence and shape the direction of a major product suite.
You'll work across a modern TypeScript ecosystem with React, Node and cloud native architectures, leading complex feature development and collaborating closely with principal engineers, architects and product leaders. This role offers the chance to take ownership of technical design, introduce best practices and contribute to systems operating at real global scale.
Key responsibilities
Lead the design, build and optimisation of TypeScript based services and applications.
Collaborate with architects to define technical direction and platform strategy.
Drive engineering standards, code quality and performance improvements.
Contribute to backend and frontend development across a modern stack.
Mentor senior engineers and support the long term evolution of the platform.
Work closely with product teams on solving deep technical and business challenges.
Required experience
Extensive commercial experience with TypeScript across Node and React.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs and system integrations.
Experience with cloud native architectures (AWS preferred).
Knowledge of CI/CD, testing frameworks and modern engineering practices.
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction.
Comfortable working in a distributed, high performance engineering team.
