The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Java) to join the team. You will be responsible for designing and delivering complex backend functionality, mentoring and onboarding new developers, and supporting technical leadership with architecture and design decisions. This role offers the opportunity to take real ownership of key areas within a cutting-edge product.
Key Responsibilities:
* Mentor and onboard developers, conduct code reviews, and support knowledge sharing
* Design, implement, and optimise backend features using Java (Spring Boot)
* Work with microservices and distributed systems to ensure scalability and reliability
* Support the team lead with technical decision-making and architecture discussions
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions
Essential Criteria:
* 5-10 years' backend engineering experience
* Strong Java (Spring Boot) expertise and microservices experience
* Solid knowledge of HTTP, REST APIs, and message queues
* Hands-on cloud experience with AWS (critical requirement)
* Self-starter with strong ownership and accountability
Desired Criteria:
* Understanding of DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes)
* Experience in SaaS or cloud security companies
* Low-level technical depth and ability to troubleshoot complex systems
