Technical Writer
Salary: £60 - 80k depending on experience
Type: Full-time, Permanent
The Opportunity
We're working with a fast-moving engineering team that builds complex systems and needs clear, precise documentation to match. They're looking for a skilled Technical Writer who can turn technical detail into clean, readable documentation for both internal and external users.
You'll work alongside developers, product managers and designers to build out documentation libraries, user guides, internal wikis, and product release notes. This is a hands-on writing role - you'll be expected to understand how the tech works and explain it simply and accurately.
What You'll Do
Own the end-to-end process of creating and maintaining technical documentation
Work with engineers to explain APIs, architecture, and system behaviour
Write user guides, developer documentation, onboarding manuals, and FAQs
Help improve clarity and consistency across internal and external comms
Build and maintain a documentation style guide
Contribute to product release processes with clear, concise release notes
What You'll Need
Experience writing technical documentation for software systems
The ability to read and understand code (you don't need to write production code)
Experience with Markdown, Docs-as-Code tools (e.g. Git, Sphinx, MkDocs, Docusaurus)
Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices, or cloud infrastructure
A clear, concise writing style and strong editorial judgement
Bonus if you've worked in a fast-paced, engineering-driven company
Why It's a Good Role
This is a mature team that values documentation as a core part of the engineering process - not an afterthought. You'll be part of product planning conversations, not just handed tickets. You'll have a voice, autonomy, and the tools to do your job well.
