Job description.

AI Engineer
Are you an AI Engineer ready to design and deploy cutting-edge AI systems in a secure, regulated, cloud-first environment?

My client is expanding with a multi-million-pound investment in new infrastructure and a significant recruitment drive. As part of this growth, they're looking for a skilled AI Engineer to take the lead in building secure, compliant, and high-performing AI solutions-particularly around Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Large Language Models (LLMs), and responsible AI deployment.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a modern, Microsoft-based tech stack, tackling greenfield projects that make a real impact in a highly regulated industry.

What's in it for you?
* Competitive Salary: £60-80k
* 30 days of annual leave (rising to 35 over time)
* Employer pension contributions
* Employee Benefits Program (after probation)
* Hybrid working model (after probation)
* Training budget for professional development
* Modern office located in Belfast's innovation hub

🚨 Please note: This role will be 100% office-based for the first 12 weeks before transitioning to a hybrid model.

The Role

  • Design and deploy AI solutions that adhere to strict compliance and governance frameworks.
    * Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures for enterprise-scale use.
    * Integrate and fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) into Microsoft-based systems.
    * Implement LLM security measures (e.g. prompt injection prevention, data protection).
    * Collaborate with security and compliance teams to meet regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001).
    * Build APIs and pipelines to support scalable and maintainable AI deployment.
    * Ensure robust integration with .NET applications and cloud infrastructure.
    * Conduct risk assessments and maintain alignment with AI ethical and governance standards.
    * Stay up to date with emerging AI regulations and compliance trends.

About You

You're a great fit if you have:
* Proven experience developing and deploying AI/ML solutions.
* Strong knowledge of RAG frameworks and vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate, etc.).
* Hands-on experience with LLMs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, Anthropic, etc.) including model tuning and security.
* A solid understanding of AI governance, risk, and regulatory compliance.
* Familiarity with .NET and Microsoft-based infrastructures.
* Skills in securing AI pipelines, including data anonymisation, encryption, and access control.
* Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and MLOps practices.
* Proficiency in Python, C#, or similar languages.
* Background in REST APIs, GraphQL, and microservices integration.
* Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Bonus Skills (Desirable, but not essential)

  • AI experience in regulated industries like healthcare, finance, or legal.
    * Familiarity with AI ethics frameworks (e.g. EU AI Act, NIST AI Risk Management Framework).
    * Knowledge of MLOps, AIOps, and observability tooling.
    * Experience with knowledge graphs and semantic search.
    * Certifications in AI governance, security, or compliance (e.g. CISSP, CISM).

What's It Like to Work Here?

My client offers a forward-thinking, collaborative environment where secure and ethical AI is at the heart of innovation. You'll be joining a growing team, working on greenfield projects that blend cutting-edge technology with regulatory rigour.
